Participant Record Page

Participant Record Page this does not stick in the field once ID is selected: [contact-form-7 id=”443″ title=”Edit Your Membership Record”] the other custom IDs did. Do you see anything wrong with this particular one? I confirmed id is correct.

Ok for some reason the field does not like all the other garbage just wants the ID number. So that part worked. Did not send me to the Thank You page just looped back to the same sign up page and the email link is also sending me to a 404. Hmm. I am using a contact form wonder if I should try a “page’ instead and see what happens. I will touch back on this and advise..
It looks like you’re using the wrong shortcode for Participants Database, are you sure this is not a Contact Form 7 question?
We tried to squeeze this code in the Form 7 plug and that did’t work as noted. I guess at this point the question is where do we place the pb short codes… other than wherever you wish ?? on the pages, portfolios page, a media page, etc. We are new at WP so it seems to me if we create a pages – page then that shows up in our links at the top (probably is a way to exclude a page but haven’t figured that out yet.
In addition any chance all the shortcodes can be on one page? Just a thought. In the end I guess we are making 3 pages?
pdb_signup (form to sign up),
pdb_signup_thanks (page that says thanks for signing up),
and a pdb_single (page used for member to review their record).
Any direction would be grateful Thanks.
Fyi we are doing some poking around on the net to resolve these Qs we found as a starter – looks like we could drop the shortcode in a post? So we would create 3 posts but not sure yet how to exclude them from showing up in the searchable published posts…. we’re figuring this out.
Well it looks like we have a solution in essence you make 3 pages then exclude them. Seems there is a plug in exclude pages from menu that will do the trick. Sorry about the extra trouble on this we are looking forward to see how this plugin fits. Thanks.
As as newbie this plugin configuration was an uphill climb. So we want to pass along the process in how we got the plugin working for those of us new to WP.
While there are many options to take – in the end these quick steps will at least get you running asap. We are not doing a LIST view of the members as they are confidential.
Create 3 separate posts – we titled each one (in bold) shown below – keep in mind we are sending our members to the Member Sign Up page with an icon and/or text link off the WP main menu – you can do it however you want. Make these 3 posts…
- (title of post) Member Sign Up put this shortcode in it [pdb_signup] then save the post – write/copy the link – you need this to send your members too
- (title of post) Member Sign Up – Thanks put this shortcode in it [pdb_signup_thanks] then save the post – write/copy the post ID number it goes in step 1 below
- (title of post) Member Sign Up – Record put this shortcode in it [pdb_record] then save the post – write/copy the post ID number it goes in step 2 below
Now follow the “Here’s How We Set That Up” part of the plugin instructions. Which is… on the Participants Database Settings page
- In the tab = Signup Form Settings and on the row that says: Signup Thanks Page – change the field drop down to Post ID and enter the post ID number from the (title of post) Member Sign Up – Thanks
- In the tab = Record Form Settings and on the row that says: Participant Record Page – change the field drop down to Post ID and enter the post ID number from the (title of post) Member Sign Up – Record
- Save Plugin Settings
This is the quickest way we know as a newbie to get up and running collecting names, etc. There are other bells and whistles but at least you are up and running. Also we created a category MEMBERS (public) for the 3 post titles and left them under the admin author. Since we are using an XML submission plugin we excluded all the IDs for the posts and requested not to index it.
The plugin admin can make, correct, or highlight these simple steps posted as needed.

Thanks for the detailed explanation of how you set Participants Database up. I think it’s helpful, especially for those new to WordPress.
The only thing I would add is that in most cases you’ll put the shortcode on Pages, not Posts. Pages are permanent locations on your site, while Posts are dated content like blog posts and news items.
