but not sugarandtype.com why aren’t they connected!?

These two have nothing to do with eachother! a wp.com is a free blog. You sign up at wp.com and you’re off working. wp.org provides software that you install yourself on a server that you yourself get from a host with a domainname for which you pay yourself. wp.com is on the wp server, a wp.org installation an a server of your own choice, how could they be connected?
