    hi there,

    Suddenly we get this error in contact form 7 plugin and our forms are not working anymore: Password command failed: 535 5.7.139 Authentication unsuccessful, basic authentication is disabled.

    We double checked the email and password and everything is correct. What do we do? I hope you can help. Thanks.

    What other plugins and theme do you use on the site?

    Hi there,

    We use the7 theme and then we have WP Bakery and Ultimate Addons as page builders. Other than that we have:

    Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection
    Really Simple Security
    Tracking Code Manager
    Wordfence Security
    WP Mail SMTP
    Yoast SEO

    Try switching to the default theme, deactivating all plugins excluding Contact Form 7, Akismet Anti-spam, Wordfence Security and Yoast SEO, and clearing all cache data.

    Why you are advised to deactivate plugins and switch to the default theme.

    Hi there,

    I’m sorry, I should have mentioned, that I already tried that. I just shifted to a twenty theme and then only had contact form7 active but I could not get the mails to go arrive in the mail box then. Then I activated WP Mail SMTP because that solved it back then and then the log in the plugin showed the error with authentication.
