Password error when creating a new account

    Hi,

    Since a few days, we have an error when creating directly a new user account from the backend, on our WordPress site (v. 5.6).
    The error is :
    (in french) “Erreur : les mots de passe ne correspondent pas. Veuillez saisir le même mot de passe dans les deux champs.”
    (translated in english) : “Error: Passwords do not match. Please enter the same password in both fields.”

    The most peculiar is that I see NO second field on the form, to confirm the password!

    Moreover, the “Generate a password” button doesn’t work anymore (nothing happens when you click on it).

    Does anyone have a hint to help us find the problem? Did anyone have this same problem?

    This may be a plugin or theme conflict.

    Please attempt to

    • disable all plugins
    • switch to a default theme (Twenty Twenty-One)

    If the problem goes away, enable the plugins one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    If you want to make these changes only for your eyes, without affecting normal visitors to your site, install Health Check PluginOn the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins (and change the theme) just for yourself, while you’re still logged in. You can then use its admin bar menu to turn on/off plugins and themes one at a time.     Thanks for your help, Vlad!

    I finally found the culprit, this is a plugin named “Custom Admin Interface”.
    When deactivated, the account creation process works again.

    I warned the developer…
