• Great concept.

I get the message “Password for the Username on the Target. Username and Password not entered or not valid.” after I type my password in and hit [Enter]. Eventually, the typed entry goes away and I have a Red X next to the password field.

I did verify that my permalinks are not “plain”.

But…I am trying to sync to a subdomain on SiteGround. I’ve seen subdomains referenced but not seen if this is an issue.

    Hello td7,

What version of WPSiteSync are you running? Please upgrade to the latest version and let us know if you have the same issue.

If this resolves your issue please mark this ticket as ‘Resolved’.

I just updated to 1.1 as I see the new version. However, the problem still exists.

I enter in my password, the system says “Settings saved” but I have the Red X and the text that says

“Password for the Username on the Target. Username and Password not entered or not valid.”

I also use LastPass and WordFence. I turned both off in case there interfere in some way.

Neither of those should affect the ability to work. Question: Did you set your permalinks to anything other than default and save them? This is a required step in order for SiteSync to work properly.

As stated above, my permalinks are custom.

Sorry – missed that (jetlag. Ya – that’s it).

Which version of WordPress are you running?

    WordPress 4.5.3.

I’m on a Windows 10 PC (Desktop Server) and trying to push/pull to a staging site. The config does work with WP Migrate Pro if that helps.

Let me clarify on the “config” part. Sorry, haven’t had first cup of coffee. My present configuration with WP Migrate Pro has worked. And that plugin is not active on either end.

I’ve got a use case where I need to sync individual items so wanted to test this.

It’s ok – I’ve had my first cup and my brain is still only running on half of its cylinders (considering I may only have two, that could be problematic). No worries there.

I’m going to run a couple of tests. Stay tuned. Will get back to you shortly.

Ok – it’s my favorite thing. You know – that thing where you try to recreate the issue and cannot?

Let’s try a start from scratch. Remove the plugins on both target and source. Then, go into phpMyAdmin and be sure that all tables containing the word “Spectrom” are gone. Also, do a search in the wp_options table for “Spectrom”. There may be an entry for both “spectrom_sync_settings” and “spctrom_sync_activated.” Remove those.

Then, start from scratch and see if it works. I’ve created a subdomain as you have and had no issues. I’ve even tried it with WP Migrate Pro installed. No issues.

Let me know what you find out.

    Thanks,

    -marc

    Hi,

Same result. Here’s what I did:

    1. Uninstalled the plugin from both sites
    2. Using myPHPAdmin dropped 4 tables from each site:
    _spectrom_sync
    _spectrom_sync_log
    _spectrom_sync_media
    _spectrom_sync_sources

None of the tables had any records.

    3. I then searched _wp_options table for “spectrom”. Nothing came back

    4. Cleared cache

    5. I then reinstalled the plugin to both sites.

    6. I resaved my permalinks to custom (figured it couldn’t hurt)

    7. Entered credentials and got the same error on the password. What’s interesting is that I also get some some sort of “settings saved” message but I still have the red X next to password.

Thanks for your patience on this. I’m going to bring it up in our meeting today and see if Dave has any suggestions.

Dave would like to work with you on this. Can we take this offline as we’ll be needing some information from you. You can either email me directly at [email protected] or [email protected] will work as well.

    Thanks!

Hi guys, was there a solution found for this? We’re experiencing something similar. Just posted on another thread, sorry for the duplicate effort.

    Thanks.

Hi, we think we have found the issue and are pushing out an update later today after some testing. Hopefully that will resolve it. I will update this thread when the update has been pushed out.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks Mark!
