• Great concept.

I get the message “Password for the Username on the Target. Username and Password not entered or not valid.” after I type my password in and hit [Enter]. Eventually, the typed entry goes away and I have a Red X next to the password field.

I did verify that my permalinks are not “plain”.

But…I am trying to sync to a subdomain on SiteGround. I’ve seen subdomains referenced but not seen if this is an issue.

  • Hi there. Was an update pushed yesterday?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Victor,

Sorry for the delay. We wanted to verify the fix a few different ways. Hopefully we covered it. A new update was pushed late last night. 1.1.1 is on the Repo now. It should do the trick for you. If not, let me know and we may have to get on a screenshare to see what’s going on.

    Thanks for your patience!

Thanks for the update Marc. We’ve installed the patch on both instances, but still no luck. Would be happy to jump on a screen share or chat offline about our setup in more detail if it helps.

    Appreciate all the help.

    Hi Victor,

I believe that what is happening is that your token is invalid and not being overwritten when you go to add the credentials. Are you, by chance, going from two sources to one target?

If you don’t mind, can you go to your phpMyAdmin and issue the following mysql command: SELECT * FROM wp_spectrom_sync_sources (where wp_ is the actual database prefix)? The tokens it displays in the results should be 48 characters. If they are 10 character tokens, delete them (or delete all the tokens) and then try again. The latest release is set to force 48-character tokens, but it’s possible that it’s having issues with 10-character tokens already generated.

You should only have to do this on the SOURCE side, so if you’re working on a local environment, it should be pretty easy.

If you need help on how to do that, let me know. I’d be happy to screenshare with you tomorrow (Friday) as I have a somewhat open schedule.

    Thanks!

I’m having the same authentication issue—WPSiteSync can’t authenticate with the target host.

I did the usual troubleshooting on the source and target: deleted the plugin, deleted the related db tables, reinstalled the plugin.

On the target hosts that I can’t authenticate to, I receive a 404 error in the logs:
    “POST /wpsitesync_api?action=auth HTTP/1.0” 404

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,

Question: do you have any security or “Coming Soon” plugins enabled? We have seen this behavior in such cases.

If you don’t, and you’re getting this, I’d like to work with you as we’d like to put this one issue to rest. It seems to be an anomaly that only affects some and have been unable to recreate it consistently.

If you are interested, we would need to have access to your phpmyadmin (database) along with your files. A staging or sandbox site would be fine. We could even do a screen share if you only have it locally. I know that because of Dave’s grueling schedule, he would prefer to be able to work on it without inconveniencing others. Shoot us an email and we’ll set something up if the above two suggestions don’t work.

    Thanks,

    -marc
