Password hash

I have used phpmyadmin to recover or change a lost password several times before. In this version, don’t know if that is why, the password doesn’t look like a MD5 hash of anything. They start with $P$B and have characters that aren’t hex. I generated a new account with the same password as my old account just to test and the code is different. Has something changed?

I need to modify a password from phpmyadmin and they just don’t look right.
