password hell

    hi guys
    I wanted to set up a Gravatar and was in the back end of my site and went to gravatar, couldnt sign in with my wordpress password or userid and had to change it , did this and it would accept it. when setting up my WordPress with hostgator I initially had the wrong email address but I thought i had it all sorted out untill this evening when the above happened. so this is the mail I recieved from wordpress :
    Hi admin,

    This notice confirms that your password was changed on Rosie Finnegan.

    If you did not change your password, please contact the Site Administrator at
    [ Redacted ]

    This email has been sent to [ Redacted ]

    BUT the site admin email ( [ Redacted ] ) is the wrong email !!! arghhhh ! how can I bury this email address once and for all !!!

  • What is the email in Settings > General?
    If it is the one you wish to “bury” :), then you may change it there.

    Just FYI – your Gravatar uses a WordPress.com account not your www.ads-software.com login info – if you were not aware of this.

    ah thats where it is , thank you !! I was told to look in Users and it has the correct one. So how can I log in to gravatar then ? wasnt aware that there were two different WordPress

    so now my web site is open to anyone and I dont need a password. i can go to the site and access teh admin section with out a password , which means am￥nyone can ?? whats up with that ?

    Did you check the box that says “Remember Me” when you logged in? That’s why you don’t need to enter your password.

    Try to view your Dashboard in another browser, an Incognito window if you use Chrome, or a Private Browsing Window if you use Firefox, and you should see that you’re once again asked for a username/password to log in.

    Gravatar uses a WordPress.com account, which is a completely separate thing: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/WordPress_vs_WordPress.com

    Register for a WordPress.com account for Gravatar at https://en.gravatar.com/ and just make sure that an email address on your Gravatar account matches the email address on your blog’s user account (you can add multiple email addresses to your Gravatar profile).
