• First, is there any way to contact someone from Word Press directly? I’m finding this to be the most non-intuitive program I have used in years.

Secondly, for some reason, I find myself having to change my password literally EVERY TIME I log into my website’s admin page. This is what happens:

I’ll input my password, get the wrong password message, click Forgot Password, input the temp one they give me, go into Users and change it, IMMEDIATELY jot down the new password I created, log out, and successfully immediately log back in with the new password. But then, give it a week or two when I try to log in to my admin page with that same new password I wrote down and Word Press doesn’t recognize it. And so I’m right back in the same cycle. I’ve gone through this at least 10 times.

I don’t have this problem with any of the other gazillions of website I use that require logging in (aka this is not “user error”) and yes I am very careful to type my password correctly. In fact, more careful than normal considering I am anticipating this problem every time I am about to attempt to log in.

By the way, I had a theme developer try to log in to my page to clean up some issues but they could never seem to get into my page because apparently there was another version of this tricky password game: where this time I could log in just fine with the credentials I gave them but they could not. Exact same credentials, just wouldn’t work on their end. Why would this happen???

If anyone can help, I’d really appreciate it, but at this point I think this is best described as a venting session. I’m really frustrated and ready to just find another site; I’m fed up with Word Press. I should be speaking with customer service/tech support on this issue, not being forced to post it in a forum.

www.ads-software.com distributes free software. Support is provided by volunteers who do this because they like WP and want to support the community. Please be gentle with us.

WordPress does not automatically change your password. If it is, in fact, changing it could be that you have some plugin installed that changes it for some security purpose or it could be that you’ve been hacked.

Also, if your browser is set to remember the password for the site, delete your site from the list of saved passwords, just in case your browser is borked.

For now, let’s just start by listing the plugins you’ve installed. It would also help if you posted a link to your site.

    Hi Sterndata,

Thanks so much for getting back to me! Well that makes sense. I didn’t realize there wasn’t an actual Word Press team out there somewhere that could help me. No ‘tude at the volunteers; I appreciate you guys’ help!

But no, I hadn’t considered that my site had been hacked. Darn, I hope that isn’t the case. I think it may very well be.

Unfortunately, although I just changed my pw less than an hour ago, I’m not able to get back in to check to see what plug-ins I have installed. SO, I think I’m calling it quits and letting a friend of mine build my website from another platform.

Again, thanks for your help! This accountant is staying in her lane from now on and retiring from all website-building duties ??
