The last time I logged into my WP was in March 2016. I tried today and it would not accept my password.

I followed the “Through phpMyAdmin” section of the “Resetting Your Password” Codex article with no luck. I was wondering what I should try next.

I think version 4.4.4 is installed.

    Thanks!

No error. The login pop-up just keeps opening whatever login I input.

I’m assuming you did already try the ‘Lost your password?’ link on the /wp-admin page?

I can’t get into the wp-admin page. This is all I see:

That’s not WordPress, that’s .htaccess or .htpasswd authentication, it’s sever-level and entirely separate from how you log in to WordPress.

    Some details on that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_access_authentication

Look in your hosting account’s control panel for somewhere you may have enabled that, or contact your hosting provider’s support for further assistance.

It turns out it’s a browser issue:

Unfortunately there was a recent update with google chrome that created a bug with the captcha form.

If you access your admin link from any other browser you will see the form as intended.

Ah, very interesting, thanks for letting us know what it was!
