• I noticed that the posts on my blog were showing the subdomain instead of the domain in the URL.

Was showing subdomain.hostdomain.com/post instead of addondomain.com/post

I went to options and changed the blog address URL to the addon domain instead of the subdomain, which fixed the problem, but now I’m trying to get in again and I can’t access the admin any more.My password and email address aren’t working.

I still get comment notices at my email address, but when I ask for a forgotten password it tells me the email address is not valid.

Any suggestions? I looked around to see if I could find this problem in past posts, but I haven’t seen anything like it.

  • Did you check the URLs & e-mail settings in Dashboard-Settings-General ?

I can’t get into the site to check anything.

Can you get into C-Panel on your server? or whatever program they use for site administration.

You can’t just change those addresses to anything you want. The two URLs must be correct for your specific site configuration.

You can change them back to get in again, and then work out the right way to correct the problem:

Actually, I didn’t change the blog address, just the URL from the subdomain to the domain, which worked fine. It would seem to me that there would be no reason for me to be able to change a setting that would then prevent me from administering the site without having to search for technical information at least without giving some warning about the issue. Thanks for the fix.
