Password protect entire page

I want to have an entire page password protected, but the built-in password protect only secures the posts. I have the MultiEdit plugin but the extra editable areas are no longer password protected—only the main posts in the default field.

Had this working a while back but support seems to not have been maintained in an old update and I just didn’t notice until now.

Have seen this issue in the forums before but haven’t found anything that works. Is it that having more than one editable area makes the page an archive? Even so why can’t you just password protect an entire page? It worked before. Not sure with which version.

(FYI: I cannot currently update to the latest version because my server doesn’t support the more recent PHP and mySQL. I’ve begun hassling them though, so hopefully…)
