• I’ve searched for an answer but can’t find one.

I have files on my website that I want to password protect. It’s a separate folder under public_html – however, when I password protect it and then go to it in my browser I get a wordpress served page advising ‘ ‘no posts match your criteria’.

How can I get around this problem?

  • I use a plugin for this sort challenge. I’m assuming you want to give users a PDF file or some other file they can download. Check in your WP Admin Dashboard >plugins> Add New

Do a search for “file manager password” etc. You’ll find several great plugins you can use to manage files with out actually password protecting folders or files in your root or sub directory structure on your server.

I have thousands of files so that’s not an option ronmerk. I need to protect an entire folder so need to solve the problem I have mentioned above.
