Password protect my site

Hi. I’d like to password protect my WP site. The only plugin I found was Angsuman’s Authenticated WordPress Plugin, which I don’t like since it only lets in site users (who have accounts) view the site…and I don’t want to have to make accounts for the people I want on the site.

In other words, I simply want people to enter a username/password to enter the site, and then they view it…they can’t add or modify any content.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel like people would have asked this before, but a search yielded nothing.
