Password protected blog posts takes me to wp-login

I am trying to password protect a single blog post. When I use the wordpress feature to do so it hides the post and prompts for a password. However when the correct password is entered rather than revealing the post it takes me to the wp-login screen. Anyone have any idea why this might be?
