password protected page asks for username?

  • I created this page and password protected it. I shared the password with members, and now some of them report that they are asked for a username (in addition to the password). The ones I heard from are using iPhone or iPad. Since I do not use Apple products, I cannot immediately check this.

    Some of the users are rather inexperienced, so maybe something entirely different is going on. I will call them and lead them by the hand, if necessary. But I just want to make sure: is this asking for a username a known bug that may appear? And if so: can I help prevent this from my side?

    This is not a known bug.

    Looking at the link from different Apple devices, it shows the password-protected site that you mentioned.

    Is it possible that users might be getting redirected to the WordPress admin login screen? If that’s the case , a good way to know would be to ask them to share the URL with you when that happens.

    If this is the case – how could that have happened? I gave them the URL to the site, just as mentioned in my request above…
