password protected pages all of a sudden visible to all

  • I just update to version 4.6 and now my Password protected pages are visible to anyone without having to put PW in!

    it’s seems to be an issue in chrome; firefox still protected; safari also still protected

    Hi, @amazingsusan. Which theme are you using? If you switch to TwentySixteen temporarily, do the password protected pages go back to behaving “normally” again?

    Also, are you viewing these pages while logged in or logged out of WordPress on your site?

    FWIW, I tested this issue in both Firefox and Chrome on my Mac, and wasn’t able to reproduce it in either one.

    it seems others also not able to reproduce, not sure why

    I’m logged out of admin

    usually, when I change visibility status, no notification is sent to subscribers

    and subscribers don’t get notification when I publish PW protected posts. Maybe that has changed in 4.6 to which I updated a few hours ago?

    I’m afraid to switch themes because I’m techno illiterate ?? I have a developer who seems unavailable at the moment
