Password Protected Pages Showing to Public

    I am having some trouble creating password protected pages with this theme. I am selecting “Password protected” from the page visibility options, but the page can still be viewed by the public. Oddly, when the page comes up exposing the page contents, the word “Protected:” is included in the title, even though no password was needed to open it. Is there something I am missing? I love the theme. Thanks. Kev

    I believe that you’ve entered the password before, and WordPress remembers that you’ve already entered it.

    Try creating a new page with a new password, and see if you can still see the protected content without entering the new password.

    Hello Edge22 . . . I think you are correct. Clearing the cache on my compUTer did not seem to make WordPress “forget” that I had used the password before, bUT when I tried to access the protected page for the first time from other compUTers, it behaved properly (i.e. I was prompted to enter the required password). I have found other online discussions that share your conclusion as well, so I am certain it has nothing to do with your theme which I absolUTely LOVE. ?? That said, I remain UncomforTable aboUT the way WordPress handles password protected pages, (especially pages containing Membership Information), so I have installed another plugin called “Page Restrict” to do the job. It is simple, works great with your theme, and is accessible only to persons who have registered usernames and passwords at the site. Thanks for guiding me toward a solUTion. Go VOLS!

    Yea, I’d definitely suggest a plugin that focuses more on protected pages, as the default protected page function is pretty minimal and easy to bypass (share the password etc.).
