Password-protecting post not working?

  • I’m having trouble with password protected posts. Using the latest nightly (12/24). It wasn’t working with 12/22 either.

    The password is “example” (minus the quotes) – all it seems to do is refresh the page, doesn’t show the text.
    Are others able to password protect posts with 1.3/1.5? Is this something on my end, or something in the code?

    Hasn’t worked for me at all from 1.3 to the current nightly I use 2004-12-21

    do you have problems with your edit button as well on the posts? both of these seem not to work for me, but always at the same time. i keep looking back here for info because i use the protected post feature.

    I don’t seem to be having that problem. When you say at the same time, do you mean the edit link on posts that are password protected? Or that in builds where the password protection doesn’t work, the edit link doesn’t work either?

    it’s all or n0thing: when the password protection isn’t w0rking right (i.e. you type in password and it merely refreshes the homepage), then the edit link doesn’t show for me, regardless of the fact i’m signed it. when the edit button is showing, my password posts work correctly. and i have no idea what’s happening, as in i’ve deleted my install files and reinstalled. i had it working right for a few hours and it quit a couple of days ago, and i d0n’t have any idea what i’ve done…

    I’m using the 12/24 nightly build, and the edit link is working for me, despite password protected posts not working. May be two separate issues.

    Seems that password protection works but with the default ?p=post number kind of thing, not with the clean URLs,

    Apparently Firefox allows you to get to the full contents of a password protected post by clicking the category text that is associated with that post.

    Here’s my 2 cents and what worked for me.

    The url you go to: i.e. https://www.lostgorilla.com/sample-login
    must match the URL and URI settings in your main options page exactly. Password for the post is testit

    My password protection wasnt working, but i was trying the URL above while my URL and URI in the options page was https://lostgorilla.com.

    I added the www to both the URL and URI in the options and it works fine now.

    Once i made the change https://lostgorilla.com/sample-login doesnt work anymore but https://www.lostgorilla.com/sample-login does.

    Interesting that if you do enter the password at https://lostgorilla.com/sample-login it refreshes but by simply adding the www and hitting enter in the url, it loads the page.
