Password Reset does not work with Front-End Login module

Can you confirm that it’s definitely an unmodified instance of the theme, notably the header referenced above? Just in case, can you try with an alternate theme, like twenty fifteen?

We haven’t seen this specific behaviour and no-one else has reported it, and the module is likely in use on hundreds of sites. To confirm, you have followed the guidance on https://www.uncannyowl.com/knowledge-base/front-end-login/ and whatever page you have set for the login page is definitely not cached, even by the host? That’s usually where we see issues with password reset.

I’m using the standard twenty-fifteen theme.

I’ve now moved my test website to my customer’s host because my own host has server-side caching enabled. This got rid of the error message but I still can’t reset the password. The old password is still active.

When I change the password with the link sent by email, the page says “Your password was reset successfully.”.

Then I receive an email with the subject “[site name] Password Lost/Changed” and the body of the email is “Password Lost and Changed for user: “. Please note that the user name is missing from the email body.

Does this clarify the issue ?

I’ve updated to version 1.3.2 of your plugin but I still have the same issue.
I’ve confirmed with the host that server caching is NOT enabled.
What else can I do ?

I don’t know if it applies here, but we did just see this on a site where the login form was on a homepage and it still didn’t work on WP Engine (used for that site) even with an exemption. When the form was moved to /login/ and an exemption was added it worked fine. So, depending on the host, try the login form on a different page. What you describe still suggests a caching issue somewhere.

Hi Uncanny! I am having the same issue, but without in my case I have other theme installed, so I guess it has nothing to be with the theme.

After completing the process to change the password and receiving the e-mail of confirmation of the reset of the password, I can’t log anymore with that password, so apparently it has not been properly changed.

Could you please investigate it? It is kind of impossible for my users to reset and even access the content.

Yours is a different issue entirely. Take a look at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_do_I_solve_the_Headers_already_sent_warning_problem.3F. Make sure there are no errors in your wp-config.php file or functions.php file in the child theme. This doesn’t appear to be related to our plugin. You can confirm that by temporarily trying another plugin that offers similar functions to this module (like Theme My Login).
