• I am testing my password reset feature on my website and when I go to reset my password, the automatic e-mail sends properly, but the password reset link with the specific key just directs me back to my login page and does not prompt me to reset or choose a new password… anyone able to help?

    Thanks so much!

To rule out any theme/plugin specific issue, try:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Has it ever worked? And, if so, prior to the issue, do you remember adding any plugin(s) or switching to a new theme? Generally, issues like these can be resolved by uncovering what 3rd party plugin(s) or theme is causing the problem — and deactivating them.

Although, the easiest way to go sometimes is to get WordPress back to as default an install as possible. Thus, if the above fails to figure things out, just deactivate all plugins and switch back to the default theme (e.g., Twenty Fifteen) and try to reproduce your issue.

If it remains, then I would suggest calling your hosting provider’s support team and letting them know what’s going on. Additionally, I would be on the lookout for anything, such as commands in your htaccess file, that could cause your redirect issue.

    Hope this helps!

P.S., If the issue turns out to be due to a 3rd party plugin and/or theme then please do let the author(s) know via their support forum so they can have a chance to fix the issue on future product releases.
