• I know my password, email address, AND my username. However, when I or anyone else tries to use the password reset feature by entering the correct username and email, users of my site and I are getting an “Either the username or email address do not exist in our records” error.

Site has been functioning fine for years. We are using WP-Members version 2.9.9.1 and the latest version of WordPress (4.2.2)

How can we restore password resets? Thanks much for an excellent piece of software.

Most of the time when people ask this question, it is because they are entering the username OR email and not both.

But based on your question, it sounds like that’s not the case. Just to be sure though, make sure it’s username AND email being entered.

Next thing to check is that if the plugin has been configured for moderated registration, passwords cannot be reset if the user is not activated.

If moderated registration was enabled after a user account existed, that user is not automatically set as active – they need to be manually activated.

If all of that checks out and it’s still a problem, that’s perplexing; especially because you mentioned this was functioning OK before. Is there anything that has changed around the time that is stopped working? Any additional plugins installed? Any cache plugins or cacheing on the server added? WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache installed? Are you using Jetpack?
