Hi Guys..

I am required to do a password reuse rules function or code, i.e. the current password is “Password6” in the list of passwords are: Password1,Password2,Password3,Password4,Password5,Password6 , now when user would change to Password7 i need remove the Password1 since I would only allow 6-cycles of passwords from DB thus can be used for next password change. Does anyone know how to implement password reuse without using plugins?

You can use this hook to detect a password change and then store the hashes for the last X versions.

I’ve never done this. Were I to do so, I’d probably use wp_usermeta to store the old password hashes.

Right. You’d have to store it there with some meta key. This is custom programming you’d have to do.

Yes, but it would be a couple of hours of coding which goes beyond what I can do here. This plugin is out-of-date, but you could take it as an example of one way to do it. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/prevent-password-reuse/
