• Published a new post last week, along with some page updates. Stopped by this morning and was baffled to find the most recent post was one from June, and the pages were back as they’d been before the edits. Tried following back some links to more recent posts; no results found. Any guidance to understanding why this happened, and what I can do to prevent it in the future?

    Thanks, friends.

  • Hmm, I saw someone else report that in the past few days – where is your site hosted? Have you checked with them? There’s no way for WP to do that – but if your hosts restored or had server problems that could do it.

I’d almost want to say server did rollback, but 6 month is huge so I’m not sure, I always recommend keeping some sort of backup though, the next time your whole site could disappear. Look for a backup solution, which will automatically create new backups so you don’t have to manually do it. Vaultpress is a cheap $5/month solution.

I believe the earlier person with this problem was hosted with Bluehost.

We do have a match! I’m also Bluehost. Shall I contact them?

Six months may be huge, but (fortunately?) I’d only put out about three new posts in that time, so that’s something. Thanks for the referral on the backup.

Yep – hope they can rectify this situation :)!

Another thing – if those posts are indeed gone, you might be able to retrieve the content of them from either:

    Many thanks! Appreciate the guidance.
