I want to exclude long events from my main event page because I don’t want the past beginning dates cluttering the top of the list, and because I don’t want something like a show in a gallery that’s only open three days a week to show up every day, or to bother with complicated recurrences for these events. These long events have a separate listing in a sidebar.

I can exclude them with a shortcode on the home page where I only display events in the “featured” category, but on the main events page, Where I want to show all events except the long ones, and group events using a date heading, I’ve got empty past date heading for the dates the long gallery shows begin. Conditional place holders such as “{not_long}content{/not_long} works for the main event list but not for the for the event list header section – they are just printed out like text. https://artvallejo.org/events/
(I don’t want to leave it up in that state very lomng)

What’s the solution – customize the event template to exclude long events?

    Thanks!
