• Hi,

After updating to WP 5.0, I tried copy/pasting from a Word document, but it deleted spaces so that two words would be combined together that shouldn’t be.

Also, I’m unable to highlight a block of words in Visual Mode of Gutenberg. I can do this in HTML mode though. It seems odd that one way works but not the other.

I wound up adding the Classic WordPress plugin, and everything is working great again. I love the concept of Gutenberg and hope that there’s an answer to the 2 big issues I’m encountering.

All other plugins have been updated today and there aren’t any conflicts.

    Hi,

This is unfortunately a known issue at this time, and is planned to be fixed in WordPress 5.0.1 (See https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/11588 for the details/history).

As for highlighting blocks, I’m not sure what that is, but I have found it to be hard to do the marking of whole blocks unless I use the ctrl/cmd+a keyboard combinations for Windows/OSX respectively, is this what you mean?

    Thanks for the reply.

With the highlighting you can see in the screenshot

I am able to highlight sentences when I am in Gutenberg’s HTML mode, but I cannot do this when I’m in Visual Mode when you use it most. Control / A highlights all the blocks, but many of us highlight words or sentences that we want to bold/italicize or add a link to. I am unable to in Visual Mode.

    Thanks again for the update.

Really bummed out about this, too, and looking forward to a fix. Sigh. Merry Christmas, Love WordPress.
