    WP 4.0 running U-Design theme.

I format a price list using the Table function in MS Word

When pasting over from MS word the Tiny MCE interface used to have a dedicated ‘Paste from Word’ button into which you could paste tables. This permitted me to minimise any reformatting, so that spacing and columns carried over into WP. With the new functionality of Tiny MCE the Paste From Word button has been deleted, and you now toggle the ‘Text’ button and paste directly onto the page.

However, this only pastes the text that was contained in the tables, not the tables themselves, so all formatting and spacing is lost.

This page shows how I wish the formatting to look, the area concerned is that between the two horizontal red lines. Perhaps there is another way – I may even have to revert to the earlier version.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

This is not related to our plugin. In latest versions of WordPress you should just paste the text (using CTRL+V) when you’re in visual mode, and it should perform automatic code cleanup. For further details see this ticket on core tracker.

    Thanks for coming back Marco.

No joy though – I copy the entire table in Word, but when I paste it over into the Tiny MCE editor the table isn’t there, just the text that was in the table, all bunched up on the left side of the page.

I am using a very old version of Word, 2003 I think. Could this possibly be the problem?

It may be. I just tried to copy and paste a table form Word 2010 to WordPress (using CTRL+V in visual mode) and it was maintained as html table.
