path not found/ 404 error

Where did you install WordPress?

I installed it in my root directory.

This is my website.

but the path for https://lokilanirain.com/wp-admin/install.php is not found.

I can’t find any evidence of WordPress on that domain. Are you sure you uploaded the files to the correct folder?

I believe I did. I used my cPanel and when prompting to open my file manager, it asks which folder I’d like to open, which is the root directory. I followed the directions on installing wordpress, but when I try to open https://lokilanirain.com/wp-admin/install.php for the install, it won’t open. It did the same thing when I did the install with fantastico.

Did you install it in the /public_html/ or /www/ folder?

/public_html/

Try making a plain text file in that folder? Like readme.txt or hello.txt and see if you can open THAT in your browser.

Okay. That means this isn’t a WordPress specific (or PHP!) error!

Two thoughts.

1) When you set up (i.e. registered) your domain, did you point the nameservers to your webhost? That’s usually a required step if you don’t register via your webhost.

2) If so, I’d contact my host and tell them ‘Hey, no matter WHAT I upload into my public_html folder, I can’t get JACK to show up!’
