Hi there,

When someone makes a successful payment via Payfast, the orders go to cancelled instead of “processing.”

So we receive the payment, but woocommerce does not pick up on it. Payfast said it is a Woocommerce error as on their side it fires successfully, and that Woocommerce created the plugin.

I found a code that forces the orders to completed, but I don’t want that to happen… We just want the Woocommerce to receive the payments form Payfast and change the orders that have successful payments to ‘Processing’. Our other payment gateways work fine, such as Yoco, when someone pays via Yoco the order status is set to Processing as needed. It is just Payfast not working.

Our other payment gateways work fine, such as Yoco, when someone pays via Yoco the order status is set to Processing as needed. It is just Payfast not working.

I understand that the status of the orders using the Payfast payment gateway is being Cancelled, instead of Processing. And, you’ve confirmed that this is not happening with any of your payment gateways except Payfast, is that correct?

Since you’ve already tested the problem only occurs when using Payfast, I still want to make sure that the core payment gateway options are working properly on your end as well. Can you please try to enable Cash on Delivery, create an order or even replicate the same order that was used for Payfast and see if the status still changes to Cancelled, instead of Processing?

If so, I’d like to understand your site properly, please share your System Status Report, that will help us further troubleshoot.

You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Hi again, so over the weekend, Yoco also doesn’t change to processing anymore, but rather “pending payment”. So it seems everything either cancels or shows pending payment…

Do you know how I can fix this?

Hi @annabellecloete

Have you tried my request above to isolate the issue by enabling Cash on Delivery, create an order or even replicate the same order that was used for Payfast or Yoco and see if the status still changes to Cancelled, instead of Processing? Again, I want to make sure that the core payment gateway options are working properly on your end.

If so, then please provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Hi there, Cash On Delivery works perfectly fine, when I select cash on delivery the orders shows ‘processing’. So it is just the payfast and Yoco payment methods.

PAYFAST Payment Showing Orders Cancelled

Thanks for reaching out, let’s figure out why things are not lining up!
From what I gather, just recently, the orders submitted using the “PayFast Payment Gateway” at checkout, have their status set to “cancelled” instead of “processing”.

I went ahead with trying out the PayFast Payment Gateway, in test mode, on a fresh test installation of mine and was able to submit an order, which showed up as “Processing” in the “Orders” screen. (screenshot showcasing this directly linked here)

That points to a theme/plugin conflict at your site.

Can you please perform a conflict test on your site and let us know of your findings?

Before you begin, make sure server-side and browser-side cache is cleared and disabled, please.

Here are some steps you can follow:

The best way to determine if the issue is being caused by a theme and/or plugin is to:

1. Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront or Twenty Twenty theme.
2. Try to reproduce the problem: Check whether you still encounter the issue!

If the problem is resolved, it’s a theme conflict. If not, continue to the next steps.

3. Temporarily deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce and PayFast Payment Gateway. You can do this manually or use a plugin to help (see below for tools).
4. Try to reproduce the problem again. If the problem is resolved, it’s a plugin conflict. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, continue to the next step.
5. Reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict.
