Paying to update my blog – what should I include?

  • Good day.

    I am going to have some changes made to my WP blog and I would like to make sure I get the most for my buck.
    What are the essentials I should include (besides whatever is already there – check https://www.winefornewbies.com).

    This is what I have so far:
    – Upgrade to latest version of WP
    – Install Auto Upgrade plugin
    – Add the bbPress forum solution
    – Fix my “Writers” page (enormous space between first and second writer’s information)
    – Add “Meta keywords” and “Pages description”
    – Add Google Adsense at the bottom of each new post

    This is all I could come up with. Any feedback would be great.

  • If you want to use BBPress, you might also think about the BBPressPost plugin that allows you to create WP posts that also automatically become Forum topics.

    Do you have BBPress set up already and just need that upgraded? [Looks like you don’t and that this is a wishlist item.] Have your person integrate them so that they share a database (that way, users’ logins are valid for your WP site AND the forum).

    Will you require design integration between the forum and the WP site, if BBPress doesn’t already exist. It’s not hard, but it can be time consuming depending on the design, and this is something you want ironed out beforehand so there are no misunderstandings between you and the person who will be doing the work.

    Finally, if you don’t already have someone in mind to do this work, you may want to check out the WP Pro mailing list. You can post your project details there and folks with WP expertise will get back to you about the work.

    Thank you for all the tips. They are extremely helpful! Great.
    I do have someone in mind – the same company that helped me the first time I got stuck with changes I wanted done but could not do them myself. But thanks for letting me know about the WP Pro mailing list. Link added to my favorites.
