    On our 2 websites, we are using WooCommerce Square. Since last week, we have seen some unnatural and frequent declines in the payments. We have a live website and can’t bear this kind of decline. Please suggest us a solution ASAP.

    Following are the common errors while decline

    1. Square Payment Failed (Status code GENERIC_DECLINE: Authorization error: ‘GENERIC_DECLINE’) Order status changed from Pending payment to Failed.

    2. Square Payment Failed (Status code INVALID_CARD_DATA: Invalid card data.)

    The first error is most frequent and 2 out of 10 orders are affected from it. Your quick response will be highly appreciated.

    Let’s address the two errors you’re encountering:

    1. “GENERIC_DECLINE” typically means that the customer’s bank is declining the charge. This could be due to insufficient funds, a security measure from the bank, or an issue with the customer’s payment method. To resolve this, you may ask your customers to contact their bank and confirm that they are not blocking the payments.
    2. “INVALID_CARD_DATA” suggests that the card information entered during the transaction is incorrect. This could be the card number, the expiration date, or the CVV. Ensure your customers are entering their card details correctly.

    If you’re still experiencing issues, disconnecting and reconnecting your Square account may be helpful. This can often resolve any potential connection issues. To do this, navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Square and disconnect the account. Then, simply reconnect it.
