This error certainly relates to the PayPal Payments plugin, but I see some possibility that it may also have some relationship with the other error you reported in this thread.
Can you reproduce this error? Does it possibly occur after the buyer initially saw the error you previously mentioned?
The best thing you can do is to enable Logging
in the Connection tab of the PayPal Payments plugin settings to gather more details about the plugin activity.
We are then interested in a copy of your logs after you encountered the problem again to help us better understand your setup and identify potential issues.
The system report can be accessed from here:
WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support
You can share the report and logs with us either here in the forums or privately?from here, if you prefer. If sending privately, please include a link to this thread for context.
The payment process goes through multiple stages, including order creation and order patching. The logs should tell us more about potential failures during the patch operation.
