Payment methods require activation in your Stripe dashboard.

Can you tell us if the plugin was working fine and receiving payments in live mode? Has it switched to test mode on its own? Can you please try setting up the Stripe account again?

To ensure that the Stripe WooCommerce Extension is set up properly, you will want to:

1. Connect to a Stripe account.
2. Set up webhooks.

Please let us know if this solves your issue.

Thank Omar for promptly replying. This site is not live yet so we did a couple of live transactions in the past month now, unfortunately, I am seeing this error “Payment methods require activation in your Stripe dashboard.” Before we go live I wanted to fix this issue. When I enabled the COD payment mode checkout process went very smoothly. I have no clue why this error is occurring.

To confirm, the live transactions you did before was via Stripe or COD?

Can you please share screenshots of everything you see under WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Stripe > Settings so we can take a look? Please remove sensitive information.

Furthermore, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Then you can use the selector to search for Fatal Errors.

As a next step, could you follow the steps outlined in the documentation linked here — to make sure the correct live (or test) keys and webhook secret are entered, instead? The screenshots included exemplify, there is a Test connection button in the bottom left corner of this window.

What message appears when you click on it?

If a message other than Connection successful! appears, kindly make sure the webhooks are setup anew, as detailed here, while making sure the latest version of the Stripe API is selected while doing so – via dashboard.stripe.com.

I don’t see anything wrong in this screenshot specifically. Were you trying to show the error message you shared before?

“Something went wrong when placing the order. Check your account’s order history or your email for order updates before retrying.“

Or is it a different issue?

Were you trying to run this order on live or test mode?
