Payment Status Failed

    I have just rolled out our first funding drive with the Give Plug-In this week. I have quickly discovered, however, that the PayPal IPN does not seem to be working correctly. I have users make successful payments but the status is Failed with the message “Payment failed due to invalid purchase key in PayPal IPN.” I can see their payment in PayPal, so I know it has not failed. Can you provide some guidance as to how I can fix this?

  • Same thing happens to our payments. Using SSL and they appear as “pending” but then eventually change to “failed”. It is an awesome plugin, but there’s still something wrong.

    One thing that would help us:

    Can you post what you have for the following setting: WP-Admin > Donations > Settings > Payment Gateways > PayPal Transaction Type

    Is it “Donation” or “Standard Transaction”?

    It is set to “Donation” for our site.

    Mine was set to donation and worked. However when I changed it to transaction (I can do either as we have 501c3 status with Paypal), I actually received a Donation Receipt email rather than just the Paypal confirmation.

    This is also happening to me using the Paypal Standard Gateway and the ‘Donation’ transaction type. Failed status in backend and on the donation receipt, however the transaction does complete at Paypal. I submitted a priority support message and was told to try upgrading my php version, which I have not tried to d yet and will hold off on as it looks like you might be making some progress on it?

    Also, I see the green light and word complete now. Thank you!

    We are using the donation option also. And reading through the github ticket, it sounds like you guys are on to something. Thank you so much for your hard work on this. Fortunately, my users have been very understanding.
