    Hi.

Last week, I had three payments refused/cancelled by Paypal. In all three cases I received the following error message:

UNPROCESSABLE_ENTITY] The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation. https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/orders/v2/#error-COMPLIANCE_VIOLATION PayPalGateway.php:502
[UNPROCESSABLE_ENTITY] The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation. https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/orders/v2/#error-COMPLIANCE_VIOLATION OrderEndpoint.php:313

It doesn’t happen with all the Paypal payments, making it quite hard to find out the cause for the problem. I’ve spoken to one of the customers and he told me that he was able to pay using Paypal on other sides without any problems, so it doesn’t seem to be a problem with the user accounts.

    Thank you
    Christoph

    Hi @meeplescorner,

COMPLIANCE_VIOLATION is a permission issue on PayPal’s end and is not a technical problem.
The error message in the Checkout should be more user-friendly than the message from the logs, but this error is most likely related to the PayPal account. Either yours, or the one from the buyer(s). I can’t say for sure.

I suggest reaching out to the PayPal merchant support (bottom of this page) to have your account checked for eventual limitations that may restrict purchases from certain countries.
It may also be possible that PayPal needs to verify some information from your account, so this would be the first best contact in this case.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas
