    Good Afternoon,
I am wracking my brains here. I installed the paid member subscription some time ago and I am having quite some difficulties concering the paypal payments. I activated the ipn on Paypal as shown in the documentation. I used the url of my homepage ( not sure if that is already the problem). When members pay the payment goes through successfully and I can see an ID on my paypal account. However it is not being transfered to my backend or my database which is why the memberships remain pending and are not activated. This is a big problem as it is annoying my members who pay and then can not access their account.
I really hope someone can help me solve this.
    kind regards,
    Joanne

  • Cheers Gabriel. Would be good to hear how this gets resolved if you don’t mind, as these IPN issues are quite hard to diagnose.

@sp3ctre unfortunately it wasn’t the www issue ?? but you have been a really big help on this. Thank you so much for you help so far.

@gabriel: Thank you for your time and for helping me solve this. I look forward to your answer on my support ticket.

You two are really great! Thanks again.

No problem, just thought I may be able to help after having a similar issue, but I think I’ve run out of ideas other than pulling the web log files. Am sure Gabriel will get to the bottom of it!

    Good luck ??

Hello you two. I solved the problem. It was the Host Strato that has a filter turned on by default that blocks the connection. After I turned it off the IPN went through and the membership was activated. I am so happy about this. Maybe one should add this possible fault to the documentation i case someone else is struggeling with this.
Thank you very much sp3ctre and gabriel for your great help and assistance. It is really nice to have such friendly helpfull people in this community.
Enjoy the rest of the week.
    Best regards,
    Joanne

    Hi Jodaline,

Excellent, great news! It does seem an edge-case though, I’m not sure it’s normal for hosts to block IPN requests. Worth keeping in mind though, and maybe an “if all else fails” comment in the IPN section would work.

    Have a great day ??

If I could just hi-jack this for one final clarification (for Gabriel) point that I mentioned earlier. I did a test using a different paypal account, where IPN was on but there was no address entered. It worked. This makes me think that it should work dynamically. Is this the case? If so it would allow multiple sites to use the same paypal account? I can see why it would not work if you had another sites IPN entered though.

Yes I was very relieved to have found the trouble maker after having spend the entire day on this issue.
I think maybe for small host packages it might be a default safety thing.
    Thank you very much.
You have a great day, too.

@sp3ctre It is not reliable and does not work for all integrations and combinations (non recurring, recurring, standard, express), I’ve looked into that before.

    Regards.

    Cool, thanks for clarifying
