• I want to sell products on my blog, but my PayPal buttons will not work.

I have another, non-wordpress site, and the code (and buttons) work there. But when I try and create a Products page on WordPress, the buttons will not work. Does anyoen know if I have to modify the code or add to it?

Is this a deliberate procedure by WordPress to not allow PayPal?

    No.

I got a gif image of a Paypal button, inserted it into my Page and linked it to the encrypted email from Paypal.

Okay, what is the exact code you’re putting in?

Ipstenu, that’s the encrypted email code I linked to the gif. It works here, but not if you go to my products page and click on the gif.

The problem is that your site is in a frame. Not sure why you’re doing that, but if you take the page out of the frame and put its true URL directly in the browser, the PayPal button works just fine.

    https://billkasal.com/blog/products

Are you forwarding https://billkasal.com to https://billkasal.com/blog somewhere? If you stop doing that your PayPal buttons should be fine.

Are you also using the Bad Behaviour plugin?

No, he said he isn’t using Bad Behaviour a bit further above and I don’t see it in the code.

Zoonini, I see what you are saying, and I do see that the Paypal buttons work in the true url. I do not (not surprisingly) understand what a Frame actually is, but I have my site hosted on IpowerWeb. It was their staff who directed me how to point my url billkasal.com to my wordpress blog internally within a folder that they named billkasal.com/blog (as you are suspecting). It was my understanding that it was the only way to handle it within their system.

I will have to go to them now and explain my problem and see if they can help me.

Esmi, I do not have Bad Behavior Plugin.

EVERYONE HERE, this was my first-ever attempt at asking a question on a forum and you have made it painless and I am in your debt. THANK YOU!

My bad. ?? The frame issue appears to be the most likely cause.

It was their staff who directed me how to point my url billkasal.com to my wordpress blog internally within a folder that they named billkasal.com/blog

Had they known that you were going to be selling via PayPal, I doubt that they would have suggested that route to you. PayPal could be rejecting the call from your framed site because the call for the button isn’t coming from the “right” site. If you set the button up for https://billkasal.com/ but the call for the button is coming from some place else, that looks like possible fraud at PayPal’s end and they may reject it.

I suggest you get rid of the framed redirect that IpowerWeb set up for you and look at re-configuring WordPress to take over the root domain, so that your site is frame-free and really is https://billkasal.com/.

While you were giving me the above advice, I went to IPower and got tech support on their chat button. They have now totally screwed me over.

Esmi, you are probably right about their knowledge of my Paypal intentions, as it was an after-thought to me. Once I began blogging, I wanted to consolidate my sites and have everything under my one blog site.

However, I explained my problem to them and the tech guy came back saying everything was fixed. I thanked him and went to my site. It was a blank 2010 template.

I went back on chat and the new guy could not help. He put me back with the original guy who was only able to partially get me back up and I did not lose any data.

Except my header image is missing and some of the other art. Plus some of my widgets aren’t configured correctly. He told me not to change anything until the higher-up guys contacted me.

I’ve been on with them for over an hour and have to get back to my day job.

As it stands right now, I am worse off than I was before I contacted them.

I followed your link above about re-configuring and I was a bit confused, but will try again when I have more time to concentrate.

I thank you for your help and I hope I an not scrod.

Argh. Incompetent tech folks = not good.

    The good news is that:

    1) your site is out of the frame and you now don’t need to worry about moving your WordPress install or reconfiguring it at the root – leave it as is

    2) your PayPal buttons work

So as long as you can get your missing images/widgets set up again you should be good to go.

Zoonini, it looks like they’re working on it. My widgets appear to be coming back and most of the linked photos in my blog are there.

As of right now, most of the pics I uploaded myself are not there, but I will give them a little more time. Otherwise, I’ll have to go back and reinsert.

I was physically shaking when I went to the site and found nothing but a template and neither of those tech guys could fix what they’d messed up.

It is frightening when someone like me trusts tech support to something and they only make it worse.

It is amazing to me that Paypal and IPower kissed me off several times yesterday and it was you people, out of the goodness of your hearts, who ended up solving my issue(s). I hope they can get me back to where I need to be.

And, again, I have never used a forum before because these strings looked intimidating to me. You and your compatriots here made this a great experience and I’m sure I’ll be back!

My blog is completely messed up again! I am now talking with someone in India. I have very little hope…

Oh dear. ?? It looks like https://billkasal.com/ still contains links to https://billkasal.com//blog. Have they moved WordPress out of the blog folder? Or is is still in there?

    (@bill-kasal)

Esmi, I do not know what they have done. And I do not know how to find out which folder is which. The only time I ever looked at folders is when I had someone from tech support on the phone with me, over a year ago, directing me how to “point” to folders. I didn’t really understand, just followed directions.

I was just on the phone and all the tech person could do was “Open a ticket” with a high priority. I do not understand why they can’t just put it back the way it was. Nor do I understand how it worked for a half hour and now it is all messed up again.

Thank you so much for trying to help me. I wish I knew more about this stuff.
