Hi Mirko,
thanks for your long and clear explanation. I would like to explain my point of view of the importance of this:
The problem all woocommerce users will have with this new “block express checkout” only option on top of all other checkout processes and informations is, that it is not aligned with the law requirements in germany.
It is simply not allowed to put any “buy” button before all other elements like shipping address, delivery options, etc. The buy button always has to be the last confirmation (button) in the flow of the checkout process.
Trust me, data protection and law requirements are crazy here.
But even if it wasn′t only by law. Why stripping the good possibility that was there before to show all payment options in one block “5. payment options”. I just prefer this as the flow of the checkout is nicer. When choosing “paypal” only then the “paypal buttons” should be visible. If I select the other options, the standard “buy now” button should be there or similiar.
But grabbing paypal, putting it completly on top, stripping the option to show it near the other payment options, not having the possibility to show description for the paypal payment like in the other payment options, etc etc.
It just feels like this was downgraded immensely and I dont′t know yet who thought this would be a good idea.
We also have older customers. How to always explain them like: Yes yes, when u click paypal on top you have to create an account or buy as guest, etc. then down below theeeeeere are the other good old payment methods, so u don′t have to enter adress when doing express checkout buuuuuut if you pay via classic invoice please fill it out, etc. etc.
I think u understand how crucial it is to bring back the payment gateway again back to point “5. payment options” so customers can choose directly there and see all possible payment options together near each other.
Otherwise the new block checkout gets pretty much unusable with paypal like this in germany.
Sorry for long post but I had to be precise on this one.
Thanks again and regards!
