    The manually inputted PayPal credential fields don’t correlate to what I know for PayPal ExpressCheckout.

    Usually one has to set these fields (or they are automatically set after connecting to a PayPal account):
    Live API Username; Live API Password; Live API Signature (and maybe Live API Subject (optional))

    However, this plugin requires these fields for authentication instead:
    Live Email address; Live Merchant Id; Live Client Id; Live Secret Key
    How do these map to the usual PayPal authentication? Is this REST-API? 3rd party authorization?

    When I assume the meaning of these fields and enter the (assumedly) correct data and save the settings, the form just saves without any indications that the PayPal credentials are actually correct and a connection is possible.
    Also the PayPal payment method doesn’t show up at all in checkout, so I guess it is not.

    Thank you for reaching out, I had checked for these details yesterday for a similar request and am trying to get them included in the documentation of PayPal for this exact purpose. Currently, I only have access to the sandbox version, so can only provide the details for that option. I would expect they are similar to the live details needed from PayPal to connect your account to our plugin.

    First of all, I would recommend using the Connection Wizard instead of the manual entry of the details; in this option, you only need the Account name (Email address) and the password from PayPal and it should work without any issue. You can test if it worked by verifying that all 4 fields for manual input have been filled in. If not, run through the wizard again and don’t rush through it so the process has time to establish the webhooks in the background (don’t click next too quickly).

    If you want to retry the manual process, here you can find these details all on the PayPal Developers page under SANDBOX –> Account –> The merchant/business account you want to connect to your payment solution.
    Details below are shown as: PayPal Payment plugin – PayPal account
    – Sandbox Email address – Account name/Email ID
    – Sandbox Merchant Id – Account ID
    – Sandbox Client Id – API Credentials – REST Apps – App name – MyApp_test_facilitators_Test_Store -**Client ID**
    – Sandbox Secret Key – API Credentials – REST Apps – App name – MyApp_test_facilitators_Test_Store – Secret

    The PayPal payment option should appear when you got the merchant details correctly configured.
