PayPal Express – Country Blocked

    Hey I am getting an error with PayPal express and the url says genericError?code=SIGNUP_BLOCKED_IN_COUNTRY_AU

    I believe this is due to regulations as I am in Australia. It happens on the PayPal screen and seems to occur if the user is not logged in to PayPal previously.

    I saw another plugin using the same API key method that somehow had PayPal ask them to log in, if they were not already, after hitting the buy now button on my membership site. This seems to be a workaround by the plugin developers. Otherwise it’s up to the user to log in themselves before hitting the pay now button from our sites.

    Before resorting back to PayPal standard, is this something PMPro could implement?

    Sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this.

    I’m not familiar with how they’ve implemented that workaround but we are aware of the issue as it seems to come up following recent changes to laws in Australia.

    If you’re comfortable with implementing a workaround for yourself in the meantime, you could hook into the pmpro_set_express_checkout_nvpstr filter which will allow you to add any extra variables to the checkout string that gets sent to PayPal – you might be able to require login from there too.
