Paypal Express Error: There was a problem connecting to the payment gateway.

  • I have a wordpress site https://www.lifeline24.co.uk running on WP Engine using WooCommerce.

    I use two payment gateways, Stripe and Paypal Express.

    When using the checkout I get the following error when trying to checkout using the Paypal Express.

    Error: There was a problem connecting to the payment gateway.

    If I turn off Stripe in the backend then Paypal Express works fine. Also paypal express works if you use it to checkout directly from the product page.

    I have spoken to Paypal and they are still investigating but so far have been unable to help.
