• My settings are set to use PayPal Express, however, when new members go to pay for their subscription, they have to use a PP account in order to pay with their credit card. I thought the whole point of PPExpress was so they don’t have to have a PP account?

    From PMPro website:
“Payment methods available to your customer

PayPal Express now allows your customer to pay with their PayPal account or a Credit Card. The customer can even checkout as “Guest”, eliminating the need for each customer to have a PayPal account. You can disable Credit Card as a payment option within your PayPal Account Profile.”

  • Generally if you are paying by Credit Card with paypal you dont have to login. Thats if they ( you) see the Credit Card option on the front page before login..

On the Paypal page there is an option to pay with Paypal ( so a login box)
and then below that is the “Pay with Debit or Credit Card button.

Clicking this brings up a form to pay with Credit Card and there is no login required

Thanks for your help, Pete, but when you try to check out at the website, that option is not there. That’s why I was asking, as I thought it should be there.

If you go to https://withmefit.com/join/ and get to the PayPal screen, you’ll see the only options are to checkout with a PP account or open a PP account. So, my client has been losing members because of this.

    Any other thoughts?

    Hi Kimkzoo

Yes it is definitely looking for the Express.

Have you set your PayPal Express API key, username, and password set in the PMPro Payment Settings.?
If you do please ensure they are correct. as without these Paypal wont recognize you are using Express.

    Sorry for the delayed reply.
Yes, all these settings have been entered and saved for several months now and it still does not work.

    Hi
Yes we understand that it was working and now not. but have you checked that the api are still correct and re-saved things.
    Sometimes APIs are updated.

Also check to see if PayPal Standard is turned on. if it is try disabling this to test Paypal Express

(in fact have ONLY Paypal Express working to test it)

Yes, I have checked all API settings. Nothing had changed. I pasted in the keys again anyway and resaved. And yes, PayPal Express is the only thing turned on in Payment Settings. Is there some other area where PayPal Standard could be a setting? I’m at a loss, I’ve done everything and this still is not working. ??

So, this is what the PMP site says:
    https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/gateway/paypal/enable-express-checkout/

Payment methods available to your customer
PayPal Express now allows your customer to pay with their PayPal account or a Credit Card. The customer can even checkout as “Guest”, eliminating the need for each customer to have a PayPal account. You can disable Credit Card as a payment option within your PayPal Account Profile.

HOWEVER, I called PayPal today and they said that is NOT the case. PayPal Express only allows people to checkout with a PP account and not have the option to use their credit card.

I need to get this resolved. Any other advice?

Ok I am a bit confused.
I think now you have your Membership set to Recurring Payments. Is this right.
I am sorry I never picked up your site was a recurring payment system.
I should have seen the “Monthly Subscribers $5.99 per Month. “

Yes if it is recurring then you will have to have the paypal account as it is paypal that picks up when the next payment is dues and gets the money from your member for you.

If in fact it is NOT a recurring membership ( Once only payment) then yes you can use paypal with a credit card only. I have it set that way on one of my sites.
The member pays once via credit card and thats the end of it..

If you are not happy with Paypal, then may I suggest Stripe. It is cheaper in fees etc and much much easier to use. I have now put several people I build websites for onto stripe.. ( No I am not affiliated with Stripe in any way)

I hope now your answers are answered…

Once again I am sorry for not picking it is a recurring membership site
