Using v4.0.7 of the plugin and although it was working OK for a short while, I’m now getting regular emails from PayPal telling me of “PayPal Instant Payment Notification Warning” for https://www.herriotway.com/?simple_cart_ipn=1

My emails to customers have also stopped, which I guess is related?

My IPN debug log file is not available from the link in the plugin, when I click the link I get taken to home page of my site. I have to download it via FTP to read it – I’m guessing this may also be related?

    My log file currently says:

[03/14/2015 9:21 AM] - SUCCESS :Paypal Class Initiated by 81.134.71.129
    [03/14/2015 9:21 AM] - SUCCESS :Post string :
[03/14/2015 9:21 AM] - SUCCESS :Connection to www.paypal.com successfuly completed.
[03/14/2015 9:21 AM] - FAILURE :IPN validation failed.
    [03/14/2015 9:21 AM] - SUCCESS :Paypal class

My purchases are working and I can receive payment, but I’m crippled by the lack of customer emails and fed up of the IPN warnings.

My payments are not set to Pending in PayPal.

My ISP insists on SMTP authentication and I’m using a “From” account that is valid, for all emails to customers.

    Any help gratefully accepted ??

Hi lone walker please check the following URL to make sure your IPN is set up correctly.

Knew I’d forgot to add something – yes, found that link in previous support ticket and IPN is setup properly – it was working for about 3 weeks and then just seemed to stop working.

If you have not upgraded any plugins or changed any other setting in this plugin then your best bet is to get in contact with PayPal and let them know of your IPN issue.

It is likely you have a firewall or security plugin that is blocking the IPN PayPal is trying to send to your server.

I don’t have any security or firewall related plugins installed.

Is it possible there is something in place from the ISP that could be blocking the IPN?

It is possible that your hosting provider has something that is blocking the IPN. Who is your hosting proivider?

I use WebHostingBuzz for this site

I asked WHB about this and they came back very quickly and suggested I switch of cPanel ModSecurity – which I did and IPN now works a treat!
