Paypal Issue: Region / Donation vs. Normal Payments

Why aren’t donations possible in your country ?

I’m not sure, may be one of Paypal Thailand’s global restrictions?

It’s strange because it can take normal payments through a paypal form using basic settings. Once I use Seamless donations I get the error message from Paypal.

I have to assume it’s two different payment types and one (donations) isn’t allowed.

“Currently PayPal accounts in Thailand are only able to send payments. This recipient is not eligible to receive funds.”

I tried changing the cmd from _donations to _xclick / _cart and it didnt appear to work.

PayPal has different restrictions in different countries. These are not controlled by Seamless Donations at all. Because Seamless Donations is a donations plugin and not ecommerce, it uses the transaction codes for donations. Using non-donation transaction codes would change PayPal’s behavior and that would be unpredictable.

My general recommendations is that if PayPal doesn’t want you to do donations in Thailand, don’t use PayPal. The company has been known to withhold funds if its terms of service are violated. Instead, look for gateways that work for donations in your country and then look for plugins that work with those gateways (Seamless Donations won’t — it’s PayPal only for now).
