• Hello,.

This is our third time reaching out regarding an ongoing issue with PayPal payments not loading in Safari. Intermittently, the functionality stops working for a few hours and then resumes without any apparent cause. A developer previously identified the “Hide IP Address” option in Safari as a potential cause, and we have confirmed this as well. However, the issue remains unresolved.

A significant portion of our customers in the U.S. use Safari and iPhones to place orders. We would greatly appreciate your advice on how to fix this problem.

    Thank you.

    Hello @gentlemako

I remember your report, and I appreciate you bringing it to our attention. So far, we have received fewer than five reports of this issue. Considering the large number of Safari users, if this were a widespread problem, we would expect to see many more reports. However, we don’t underestimate the importance of your feedback.

The key issue is that we haven’t been able to reproduce the problem. From what I recall, it occurs sporadically, making it challenging to determine whether the issue is on the user’s end or related to your specific environment.

Our developers were analyzing the issue, but from our side, everything appears to be functioning normally. One suggestion I have is to check your plugins if you’re able to consistently reproduce the issue, as this could provide further insight. Without being able to replicate the problem, it’s difficult for us to diagnose it thoroughly.

Let us know if you can find any pattern that actually trigger the problem for some users.

    Kind regards,
    Krystian

    Hello there,

Thank you for your response. We are continuously working to discover any patterns that might help identify the issue. The only thing we know for sure is that once my IP is disabled, it works fine. Another issue is the loading time; sometimes it takes longer to load but eventually does, while other times it doesn’t load at all. We are currently trying to find more causes and will update you with any new information.

    Best Regards

    Hello @gentlemako

We know that some Safari security settings can affect the smart buttons. However, any browser with extra security plugins/widgets might similarly interact with our JavaScript.

If you find more information, please tag me with @inpsydekrystian, so I receive an email notification and can respond to your message more quickly.

    Kind regards,
    Krystian

    Hello @inpsydekrystian,

After long weeks of trouble shootings this issue, this is the first error we received from the console error log when you try to troubleshoot from Safari on iPhone:

[Error] Fetch API cannot load https://www.paypal.com/sdk/js?client-id=Aa2KXX-fUTABg2KIcuth-IzUaBnFW48sNCREqYiurgO-GKVG1VwmTjm574msldRu1nSJYBrefeN1Gyn2&currency=USD&integration-date=2024-06-03&components=buttons,funding-eligibility,buttons,card-fields,googlepay&vault=false&commit=false&intent=capture&disable-funding=card&enable-funding=venmo,paylater due to access control checks.
    onError (button.js:2:102491)

We have made a little change on the client Id to keep information private just FYI, Please let us know if this helps,

    Thanks.

    Hello @gentlemako

Thanks for the update, I have already shared this with the development team ealier, but I’m not sure if it will solve the problem.

This issue looks like a CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) error while trying to load PayPal’s SDK on your website. This happens because the browser is applying security rules. In simple terms, it means that Safari is blocking PayPal scripts, which we already know about.

I hope to give you some news on this soon.

    Kind regards,
    Krystian

    Hey @inpsydekrystian ,

I have the same problem like @gentlemako . In Safari the smart buttons are not loading.
Analyzing in the dev tools shows an infinite loading query to the paypal servers, seems like the cors problem you mentioned. Can you help me with that?
