• Hi Alan, As a charity we are probably moving from just events which worked very well to being able to charge a basic fee.
    I’ve set up all the parameters I can see using as base my working pages
    It shows there is a charge on the form, then says register and pay but doesn’t go to paypal, just goes to my confirmation site page.
    In settings cost is clicked and entered Cost per person
    Registration, nothing to change??
    Payments, ticked Cost per person, PayPal Email Address, currency code, IPN not clicked at the moment
    That I think is all I need????
    I did click “See the PayPal IPN Integration Guide for more information on how to set up IPN.” But that went to a 404 page?
    I did look through IPN page but it talked about non US and migrating its Sandbox environment to the cloud. Which was above my grade!
    Hope you can help, many thanks
    Chris

    p.s. that redirection is a bit confusing as it overrides the redirect to payment page

    I’ll add that to things to look at

    Alan, all working very well and many thanks for great support.
    Is it possible to have a payment for adults and either reduced child payment(50%) or children free?
    We saw the cost table but not sure how it works.
    Thanks

    That is exactly what the cost table is for.

    I’ll compose a ‘how to’ with some screen shots and then publish the link for you.

    I have created the ‘how to’ please take a look and give me any feedback if anything needs to be clarified

    Got it and works well except !!!
    I’ve set it up exactly as far as I can see but on the register form after “enter places required” it shows the price but no text “Adult etc.” like your example does.
    Also we need to have other names as well for safety reasons, we used to have “Show box to add more names if number attending is greater than 1″ ticked in registration settings which worked well. But it now doesn’t? We havent ticked ” Tick if you want only a single name/email to reserve” (we have tried ticking it then unticking)

    I looked at your site while the test event was there ( it seems not now ) and I could see no reason why labels were not showing.

    I could be some custom CSS orJavascript in your theme or other plugin.

    The best thing to do next is to go through a process of elimination, switch to default theme and turn off all other plugins. You can do this without impacting other users by using the special plugin Health Check & Troubleshooting https://en-gb.www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/

    Thread Starter rockingh

    (@rockingh)

    Hi Alan, I’ve checked all QEM settings compared with my test site which does show the full info e.g. “Enter number of places required, Adult at £0.02 each:
    Both sites have same settings.
    Main site won’t show adult part! See booking here https://floatourboat.co.uk/event/test-2/
    At the moment I have all plugins apart from QEM deactivated. I’ve had a different theme as well but still won’t work.
    Using health check it says background updates not working as expected plus a couple of Recommended improvements. But I think its not relevant?
    Would it help to re-install wordpress?
    I’m now really struggling!
    Thanks Chris

    (@alanfuller)

    So just for clarity
    1. it works correctly on your test site
    2. with exact same settings on your live site the

    You have tried the live site with all other plugins disabled and set to a WP default theme ( e.g. TwentyTwentyOne )

    The code says

    $label   = str_replace( '[label]', $products[ $i ]['label'], $label );
    $label   = str_replace( '[currency]', $payment['currencysymbol'], $label );
    $label   = str_replace( '[cost]', $products[ $i ]['cost'], $label );
    							$content .= '<div style="clear:both;"><b><span style="float:left">' . $label . '</span><span style="float:right;width:3em;"><input type="text" style="text-align:right;" class="qem-multi-product" name="qtyproduct' . $i . '" id="qtyproduct' . $i . '" value="" /></span></b></div>';

    And the ONLY output you are getting is the third element – ‘cost’

    So this is indicates that the live site data may look the same but actually are not.

    The data is coming from the event, not ‘settings’. I can’t imagine what, but perhaps something ‘broke’ the update of label & currency – but I would try creating another test event.

    Also when you go back to edit the non working event is the ‘label’ text there?

    Thread Starter rockingh

    (@rockingh)

    I’ve checked, every plugin apart from QEM is deactivated, I’m now on twentytwenty as you can see and made new basic event as shown “test 3” Still fails
    https://floatourboat.co.uk/event/test-3/
    Also when you go back to edit the non working event is the ‘label’ text there? Yes, still there
    If you want I could give you private user access? [email protected]
    Thanks

    Found it, I must have missed on payments- variable label, item label. I had cost rather than “[label] at [currency][cost] each:” Now it works.
    Many, many thanks for your patience and resopnses.

    But also we need to have other names as well for safety reasons, we used to have “Show box to add more names if number attending is greater than 1″ ticked in registration settings which worked well. But it now doesn’t? We havent ticked ” Tick if you want only a single name/email to reserve” in Edit event (we have tried ticking it then unticking)

    I’ll take a look at the other names options setting on Monday and advise

    Thread Starter rockingh

    (@rockingh)

    Hi Alan, we understand you are busy and we are on your free plan so we don’t want to presurise you at all.
    So we’ve had another look.
    The extra persons drop down box works fine with single payments but the box doesn’t appear when its variable prices e.g. for a child.
    I tried adding an additional box to show for people to enter extra names using “additional info” in Registration settings but that wouldn’t show either.
    So we moved address and post code into one box “user defined 1” allowing us to use “user defined 2” for extra names which works fine as a workaround.
    Theres always a but, We thought because some people struggle with the internet we would add a pay on arrival button as offered in the settings which works fine except it doesnt count towards people coming (leaves it as pending) in registration page.
    Then of course if someone books normally they will take their place. This one isn’t that important as we can add contact details elsewhere for problems.
    But (and this is a good But) we are very pleased now with where we are and what we’ve got.
    Many thanks Chris

    Currently that logic is mutually exclusive.

    i.e. if you select ‘places’ > 1 more names show

    but booking variable price tickets it does not as it is looking at a different count of places

    I’ll look at the code and see how difficult it is to merge the features
