PayPal Standard Doesn’t Automatically Set to Completed

Hi Team,
when using the PayPal standard payment gateway, the invoices for subscriptions do not get set to completed. The subscription has a 3 month trial and then bills yearly thereafter.
- Invoice Notes show: Received valid response from PayPal IPN: VERIFIED
- I can see the Subscription in the PayPal buyer’s account
- I can see the subscription in the PayPal seller’s account.
- Transaction status goes from “Payment Pending” to “Processing”
- Identical Stripe transactions get set to the “Complete” status
Hoping the team can provide some insight.
