Paypal Standard in authorize mode not capturing payments

I have set the payment action on Paypal Standard to “Authorize.” This does work and the customer and merchant see “Authorization” in their PayPal activity. There is a note in the order that says to change the status from “On hold” to “Processing” or “Complete” to capture the payment. Do this but it does not actually capture any payments. In payment the activity still says pending. Am I missing something?
