    I have an updated woocommerce and wordpress site that recently ( in the last 10 days or so ) started having issues with the paypal standard payment gateway. When you click on it you are directed to the paypal site where you would (normally) complete the transaction. However, now it just opens up the site with “Things don’t appear to be working at the moment” and it does nothing.

    In addition to that, this still ends up generating an order in woocommerce with a “pending payment” status. This means we are getting a lot of pending payment orders because people click the paypal payment, see the error, click out and go back, then click it again.

    I know it is not a lot to go off of, but is anyone else experiencing this? Could a recent update to the woocommerce payments be malformed?

    Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

    The Standard Card Processing payment method is actually not coming from our plugin; it IS being triggered, but the code is included in the WooCommerce plugin by default and triggered when you don’t activate the Advanced Card Processing payment method.

    For this reason we cannot really affect the payments with any of our plugin updates. I would expect that PayPal made changes on their side (server) and this might be affecting some merchants. I would advise you to contact PayPal Merchant Technical Support and ask them to review the transaction and/or your account for this matter. They might be able to give you a better response on this.

    It looks like there might have been a misunderstanding. It seems like you might be using an older version of the PayPal plugin called PayPal Standard, but our support team can only help with the newer version called WooCommerce PayPal Payments.

    If you are indeed using PayPal Standard, we recommend switching to PayPal Payments instead. We are happy to assist you with any issues you might face while using the newer plugin.

    Hey Joost,

    I am mistaken and you are correct. It is using the older plugin. Additionally, it appears the paypal account needed an email update since the previous one was decommissioned. Once the email was updated and validated on Paypals side everything worked again.
