PayPal Standard no longer supported?

    Can anyone at WooCommerce tell me if PayPal Standard is no longer going to be supported in WooCommerce? One of my clients has been approached by PayPal, who is trying to convince them to use the PayPal Checkout free plugin instead in order to update the look of the payment buttons and to make the checkout process appear to take place on their website. After more investigation, PayPal informed my client the following: “the Standard option currently on your site will be sunset and no longer serviced.”

    I can find nothing to support this comment. Can anyone at Woo shed some light?

    Hi there!

    Paypal doesn’t have a plan to retire Paypal Standard yet. So while they are encouraging users to use Paypal Checkout instead, and their message might come across as apocalyptic ?? – Paypal Standard is still here bundled into WooCommerce and safe to use.

    However, upgrading to PayPal Checkout would provide users with a better checkout experience.

    The announcement was for sunsetting PayPal Adaptive and PayPal Advanced on April 12th.
    There will be no longer support provided for these 2 from 12 April 2021 onwards.

    To replace the 2 above, unless you need a specific functionality, I recommend the new PayPal payments extension.
